G'day,
Here's my second attempt at a newsletter. I hope that the first was useful, and
from some comments that I received, it wasn't too obnoxious.
At our Turnbull sendoff, two wines that I was asked to bring in have arrived.
They are:
Batasiolo Moscato Asti $12.60
Fetzer Gewurtztraminer $13.15
After the Carmenere tasting at my place a while back, I found one that I thought
was good. It is the Caline Reserve Carmenere at $14.59.
The Stoneleigh Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is finally back. It's $13.71.
Condado de Haza "99 is in, and incredibly, the price is down! They have some
new vineyards that are finally on stream. Price is $18.55. Pesquera is also
in, and it too has decreased in price--under $24.
Other oldies, but goodies:
Penfolds Kalimna '98 at $29.36 (only nine bottles left)
Montes Alpha Merlot '98 at $20.10 (another price decrease!)
Also just in (on Thursday) is the 2001 Paul Zinck Alsace Riesling at $13.90.
More new stuff:
Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon '99 at $26.95
Beringer Stone Cellars Chardonnay $14.20
Canada's Wine of the Year, Quails Gate Merlot at $14.50
Wolf Blass Sauvignon Blanc '01 at $13.70
Isabel Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, (the vineyard that used to supply the
grapes for Cloudy Bay is now making its own wine; some
of you tasted it at the GPREMS winetasting), will be
in on Thursday, at about $20.55.
Finally, I have access to the following:
Penfolds St. Henri (vintage unknown at this time) at about $35
Burrowing Owl Merlot at about $28.
Any interest in these last two? If anyone is interested, please let me know,
and I will order them. They're both great wines.
Cheers,
Al Lakusta
